Biodiesel – Basic Characteristics, Technology and Perspectives

چکیده
The author provides a thorough image of different aspects of biodiesel, including history, economical and political issues, technological and production retrospectives and future trends in this industrial sector. Tough the history of biodiesel looks short and well-known there are certain facts that show that it is a much older phenomenon in the history of technology which so far is not entire biotechnological but has the potential of including biotechnological steps in the technological scheme of production. Modern day ecological engineering is only a responsible successor of certain laws of production, usage and answering to the needs of a world which is fuel dependant and hungry at a time. The article comments the common process of production of biodiesel based on cultures like corn, rapeseed and sunflower, and makes a wide cut into alternative donors of raw materials such as biomass – algae, fungi, bacteria, which appear to be a resource of much higher yields. The methods mentioned in the article are in accordance with recommendations for biosafety and sustainable development. The article focuses on problems of future perspectives with the generated waste products connected with their biodegradation and biotransformation. The theoretical survey gives a basis for successful integration of the forth biotechnological brands – industrial, plant, environmental and biotechnological energetics.

متن کاملThe Study of Biodiesel Characterization Obtained from CapparisSpinosa Oil Seed
Biodiesel is usually produced from food-grade vegetable oil using trans-esterification process. As an effective factor on the biodiesel characteristics of the biodiesel is the kind of feedstock which is used, so finding a proper feedstock for using initially has an important role for different places. So, in this research, disposal substances of Capparis Spinosa are used as a feedstock for prod...
متن کاملBiodiesel production from tomato seed and its engine emission test and simulation using Artificial Neural Network
In this study, tomato seed oil was used to produce Biodiesel fuel. To reduce the percentage of free fatty acids, the oil was reacted at a temperature of 40, 50, and 60°C with a mixture of sulphuric acid and the industrial methanol with different molar ratios of oil. The best conversion efficiency was achieved at 60°C and a molar ratio of 1:9. In the transesterification step, biodiesel was produ...
متن کاملBiodiesel Production through Non-catalytic Supercritical Transesterification: Current State and Perspectives
The inconveniences of the conventional method for biodiesel production by alkaline catalysis suggests research towards alternative methods, with the non-catalytic transesterification using an alcohol at supercritical conditions proposed as a promising technique for biodiesel production. The so-called supercritical method (SCM) has powerful advantages over conventional techniques, such as fast r...
